Detailed Rules

Actions & Turns

Each player gets the Action Points (AP) set when the match was created: between 1 and 5, 5 by default. Available actions:

  • Move a piece: 1 AP. A piece can only move once per turn.
  • Pass the ball: 1 AP. The piece holding the ball passes without moving.
  • Dribble: Moving with the ball also costs 1 AP.

The turn ends automatically once every AP is spent, or manually when the player presses «End Turn».

The kick-off

In online matches White always kicks off; in Training the side you pick when creating the match does. Either way the queen takes it, starting with the ball on her central square. After a goal, the side that conceded kicks off.

Tackles & Interceptions

Tackles

Performed by moving one of your pieces to a square occupied by an opponent holding the ball. Your piece captures the ball and the opponent is displaced to an adjacent empty square. The rival king is untouchable: no piece can enter their square — only a shot can reach them.

Interceptions

If you pass and an opponent stands on the ball's trajectory, they intercept it and take possession automatically, ending your turn. Knight passes are the exception: the ball leaps over the trajectory, so only an opponent standing on the destination square can intercept it.

The King & the Ball

The king cannot hold the ball for more than one turn. If your team passes to the king, they may keep it during that turn, but must release it on the following turn.

If you don't pass voluntarily, the system will do it automatically using your last Action Point. You'll see a crown on the AP indicator when this restriction is active.

Backpass Rule

Once the king releases the ball, no teammate can pass it back until an opponent touches it first.

This prevents a winning team from endlessly cycling the ball through the king. The block lifts as soon as an opponent intercepts, makes a tackle, or scores a goal.

Offside

A piece other than the king may not end the turn holding the ball inside the rival area. If it does, it is offside and loses possession: the ball is handed to the defending king. There is no warning turn (unlike the king rule): ending a single turn like that is penalised.

Since defending pieces cannot enter their own area to tackle, without this rule a piece could camp the ball in the rival area indefinitely. To avoid it, conduct the ball out of the area or pass it before the turn ends. It mirrors football's offside.

Piece Movement

PieceMovement
♔King1 square in any direction, within its own area. It is the rival's target: untouchable by enemy pieces — only a shot can reach it!
♕QueenAny number of squares in any direction.
♖RookAny number of squares horizontally or vertically.
♗BishopAny number of squares diagonally.
♘KnightL-shaped move. The only piece that can jump over others.

How to win?

The goal is to shoot the rival king with a pass. If the ball reaches the enemy king's square, it's a goal!

  • The enemy king lives in the area (green zone, 5×2 squares) and cannot leave it.
  • None of your pieces (except your own king) can enter your own area.
  • The king is untouchable: only a pass/shot can reach them.
  • The player with the most goals wins.
